Seen that old post you wrote about eremika and wanted to ask you if it's ok! (If not just ignore it) Do you really think that Eren loved Mikasa in a romantic kind of way rather that like a sister? It's no doubt that Mikasa always loved him romantically but imo Isayama did a poor job writing Eren's love towards her until the end. It seems that they were close no doubt but they would never be a pair just because there wasn't strong feelings toward her from his side. Even in modern au I can't picture them together for some reason. Maybe Eren is not just a type for relationship I don't know..... Also I just don't get it WHY he suddenly became in love with her. We see Mikasa's reason for loving Eren, he saved her life, gave her a reason to live and fight but I don't get what was Eren's reasons for falling in love??? What I'm saying is that Isayama did nothing to make this ship justified. Eren's love just came from nothing imo. I'm really interested in your thoughts about it!

Actually i never seen Mikasa’s love or care as romantic for some time till chapter 50, on the other hand there’s her trying to justify her care for him as him being family, meaning as him just basically being the closest person to her, nothing more but get embarrassed when everyone thought he was her boyfriend, in a meaning like “what? me and him? never.”

Eren on the contrary since the beginning made it clear that he did not see her as a sister, and her calling his parents as uncle and aunt is more to it, plus lost girls ova manga she says it clear ‘her parents were not killed by titans’. He kept calling her out about not treat him like a little brother, and he’s the one that was disappointed with the answer of family.

Since the little blush he had in season 1 I knew that something was going to happen between the two, and it’s all about possibilities too tho, like they would have lived normal lives if they did not suffer from titans. Then his primary goal became destroy them, go into the SC’s and be the slayer. There’s one detail about him calling out Jean and everyone for joining the MPs for being the ones in top 10 yet cowarding from going outside the walls… in the same chapter he asks Mikasa to join the MPs for her to be safe, even though she was the strongest, he becomes a bit of an hypocrite when it comes to her and her safety. That happens in c51 when he tells her she should rest but she doesn’t while nags everyone else to do their chores right, and they all fought in s2 not just Mikasa.

She’s the one that motivated him more than anyone, in training she’s the one he wants to be acknowledged by, in c32 she’s the one he thinks of when he transforms to fight Annie, in c50 she’s the one giving him the will to keep fighting and he protects her punching dina bare handed, plus the way we see Mikasa, all blushing, sparkling, smiling, with all those cute details was because we were all watching as HIM, he was looking at her like she was the most beautiful thing in the world, that also happens in 123 when she gets her ice scream and basically any panel where HE’’s the one looking at her, she sees him as Eren, he sees her as the prettiest all the times. Then she’s still his motivation in RTS, and when they got to the basement she’s the one able to calm him down.

I knew that she was going to be way more of a friend for him, i never saw it as a sister because they also insisted and eren himself insisted on her not being one, so just avoiding said words is like “why the fuck are you reading if you’re going to ignore text and all that characters are saying?”

Their dynamic definetly changed after c50, they relied more on each other, they basically became partners, from season 4 meaning chapter 90 there are way more moments when it can be seen, because after s3 there’s a timeskip where they developes a new bond from what had happened.

The blushing, The looks, and the way his eyes seemed to longe for was enough for me to know that it was going to be tragic. in fact then 112 happened and then 138 and 139-

But to me, it was clear and following manga plus interviews when in one Eren said that his perfect bride would be her, that the mf was in love but was just too dense to fully understand it till it was too late and they were never going to get enough time.

So this is my thoughts on it.

There’s in no need to have reasons to love imo, you just love and sometimes you don’t know why and that’s probably what eren felt for some time, she was always there, she smiled, she protected him, she is the only one that never saw him as a weapon but a human who had feelings and thoughts and was able to get tired, she promised her because it was always just them, Eren and Mikasa. And he was a guy who really did not see any value in himself, so why would she love him? that’s also why he not only asks her but Zeke, because he tries to find the reason, how could someone like her, love him? Those I’d say could be the reasons he loved her.

this is kind of a dumb rant but i’ve just come to the realization that i do not care at all about most fictional romantic love, especially when it’s done to undercut platonic love. hear me out: percabeth is largely my favorite fictional relationship ever, and that’s because first and foremost, they’re friends! i can’t think of a legitimate reason they would break up, but if they did, they would probably want to stay friends! AND then dating is never used as a reason to undercut any other friendships. annabeth remains a good friend to the other girls on argo ii, percy is friends with grover and others and it has nothing to do with his relationship with annabeth.

meanwhile you have relationships like harry and ginny in harry potter that i never really cared about because it’s like “this is Girlfriend Ginny who i think is pretty and want to kiss. these are Friends Ron and Hermione who i will talk to about my problems.” and it just comes across so unrealistic because it seems clear that these relationships have no emotional bond whatsoever. there is nothing keeping them together.

and i see this a lot in fiction where the author goes “oh this random stranger or this person that i hate is actually hot! romance time!” like no!!! y’all have nothing in common!!! and then they’ll almost always have a moment where the mc’s actual friends don’t aren’t talking to them for some reason so we can get a dedicated chapter or episode or something of them getting emotional support from the love interest but the moment the friendship comes back, it’s back to just Friends=Emotions and Boyfriend=Kissing. anyway this whole rant didn’t really have a point so :/
